Web Design
There's more to design than, well, designing Print

Below this article, you'll see a few examples of web design work I've done. But what you should know first is that there's a lot more than what you see. What I love doing, and have done a lot of, is information design. I've worked as a web assistant at Dominican University for 1.5 years now and most of what I have done is maintaining and training. I make updates, find and prepare photos and copy. I train people how to update their own sites. I've converted older sites into new templates for the CMS system they use. I've also created my share of e-cards and newsletters. In order for something to remain alive and well, it must be maintained.

Speaking of e-cards, there is one in particular I'd like to show. This was the 2008 President's office Christmas e-card. The animation, drawings and lyrics are my work. The sound was also recorded and edited by me.

Back in Feburary of 2007, I began to help a grad student at Dominican University with a website he was developing. He had contacted one of the Design Professors asking for names of students that could help him With the Graphic elements of his site. Several of us were contacted, and I chomped at the bit, so to speak. One of my duties was to redo the logo and make special designs for the holidays. I also created design topersonalize profile pages. All of the pictures are my own, and I also picked background colors and text colors. As well as profiles I did icon work. The website is now defunct, but I'm still glad to have been able to work on it. In many ways its what introduced me to web design.

In early 2008, I had the oppurtunity to work with author Stephen Kinzer. He needed a website and my name was mentioned. We worked togther and eventually got his site, Stephenkinzer.com, up and running. It's been running strong and I still continue to work with him to maintain the site, as well as support for his e-mail newsletters. The site right now is a normal collection of html pages, but we are currently working on bringing it into a CMS system.
